Vilanova i la Geltrú is a vibrant Mediterranean town just 25 miles from Barcelona. Despite its location on a spectacular section of the Catalonian coast, Vilanova had never attempted to position itself as a tourist destination, relying instead on its historical manufacturing tradition to promote economic growth. But with many businesses having moved operations elsewhere over the last decade, the time had come for the town to begin promoting itself as a holiday destination for regional and international visitors.
BrandCulture worked with Vilanova’s Office of Tourism and Economic Promotion to develop a strategy for presenting the town to potential tourists, drawing on its uniquely expansive beaches, endless opportunities for seaside activity and the incredible energy surrounding Vilanova’s many traditional festivals. We brought that strategy to life in a new website – developed as a responsive site that works across PC, tablet and smartphone devices and produced in 4 languages. The new website is driven by a custom content management system that makes it easy for Tourism staff promote specific events in real time, and that will integrate with Vilanova’s offical mobile app for greater efficiency and a richer user experience.
