I got so fed up and angry with jury summonses that last time I tried to take myself off the voter's list. Yes, I did. It's unbelievable that they have this much power over a person's life, and despicable, as well.

If I'm so important, so essential, they can pay me for my time, and then I'll do a good job. Otherwise, I'll continue to take action.

It is absurd to say a jury summons is an "invitation". Penalties for not responding to the summons are printed right on it.

Here in Los Angeles, failure to accept an "invitation" to jury service results in fines of $250, $750 and $1,500. http://www.downtownnews.com/articles/2008/02/11/news/news07.txt

Up in Stockon, the court has sent out sheriffs to round up scofflaw potential jurors.

Perhaps the $15 a day pay gets around the conscription problem!

You need to realize that the State cannot
conscript (enslave, take without compensation). A jury summons is an
invitation, not an obligation. The defendant's right to jury trial does not obligate you.

But if you go, look up what a Fully
Informed Jury is.
